NSU Women Resume MEAC Play by Hosting Coppin State

Both Teams in Search of First MEAC Win

NORFOLK, Va.
— The NSU women's basketball team resumes Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference play by hosting the Lady Eagles of Coppin State University at 4 p.m. on Saturday.

The Spartans (2-8, 0-1 MEAC) closed out their non-conference schedule with a 58-44 loss at North Carolina Central on Wednesday night. Areya Walker led the Spartan effort with 11 points and nine rebounds. It was the fourth consecutive game and seventh time this season that Walker scored in double figures. Tiffany Gadsden and Natasha Huntley had eight points apiece. Gadsden added six rebounds, two blocks and two steals, while Huntley contributed four steals, three rebounds and three assists.
 
Coppin State's 41-game MEAC regular-season winning streak came to an end with a 63-55 loss to Morgan State on Saturday at the Coppin Center. It marked the Lady Eagles' first MEAC regular-season loss since dropping a 51-50 decision to Delaware State on Feb. 12, 2005. Rashida Suber led Coppin State (5-9, 0-1) with 13 points, while Danielle Anders added 11. Jennifer Martin had six points and nine rebounds for the Lady Eagles.
