NEWPORT NEWS, Va. — The Norfolk State women's tennis team dropped to 0-3 on the season after a 4-2 loss to Hampton (1-0) on Friday at the Centre Court Indoor Tennis Club.

The Spartans' wins came at Nos. 4 and 6 singles. Silvia Panush (Sofia, Bulgaria) defeated Barenese Myers 6-4, 6-2 at No. 4 and Rebecca Graff (Bastad, Sweden) won by default at No. 6. 

NSU also got a solid effort from Naeemah Brooks (Galloway, N.J.) at No. 3 singles. She fell to Maria Ycaza 2-6, 6-3, 4-6.

The Spartans return to action on Feb. 27 at 1p.m. against Chowan in their home opener.
