About Army
The Knights own a 2-1 record after wins over Utah State and Campbell two weekends ago at the Red & Black Showcase at Georgia. Army also lost to the host Bulldogs in five innings, and had games against St. John's and North Carolina State on the third day of the tournament cancelled.

Morgan Lashley started two of the games and got the decision in all three games, posting a 4.91 era early on in the season. Alex Reynolds and Alexis AuBuchon each tallied four hits, while Reanna Johnson had three hits in nine at bats with three RBI. Alex Gaff also had three hits and walked three times with three runs scored.

About Monmouth
The Hawks open their 2012 season at the Spartan Classic after being picked seventh out of 11 teams in the Northeast Conference preseason poll. Monmouth did receive one first-place vote.

Monmouth finished 21-21 last season and returns All-NEC honoree Christine Scherr, who hit .333 with 22 runs last year. Lauren Sulick was named to the All-NEC second team after picking up 19 of the team's 21 wins in the circle. Kayla Weiser, Alicia DeSanto and Kate Kuzma all hit better than .300 last season and also return for the 2012 season.

About Delaware
The Blue Hens stand 2-5 on the season, with a 2-1 win over Presbyterian and a 6-4 victory against Florida Gulf Coast already on their resume. Three of the team's five losses have been by one run.

Hannah Rust owns three starts on the year with a 2.02 ERA. Three other players have made starts, including Chenxi Jiao, who has a 1.75 ERA in 12 innings pitched. Michelle McKinnon owns a .450 average with nine hits, while Gina Knutson is the only other player hitting above .300 (.364). As a team, Delaware is hitting .235 on the season. Knutson and Lara Andrews each have a homer and four RBI, and Knutson also has four stolen bases.

Last Time Out
A three-run home run in the eighth inning propelled Marist to a 5-3 win over NSU on Feb. 18 in the Spartans' season opener, while Fairleigh Dickinson pounded out 15 hits in a 12-1 win later in the day at the NSU Softball Field.

Morgan Boyd and Whittni Gray added a pair of hits against Marist, while Whitney Holland had a hit in each game. Jamie Schulle pitched well against Marist, allowing just one earned run on eight hits with five strikeouts in all eight innings. Her only major mistake was a three-run home run by Aly Klemmer in the top of the eighth.

Rain, Rain Go Away
Hoping to use the early season schedule to gain some traction, the Spartans have hardly gotten the chance after having six of their first eight games either postponed or cancelled all-together. Rain and the subsequent field flooding cancelled last Sunday's games against Marist and Fairleigh Dickinson and Monday's doubleheader against Canisius, all at home. NSU was supposed to open the season Feb. 16 at North Carolina Central, but the uncooperative weather forced the teams to push that back to next Wednesday.

Up Next
The Spartans will head to North Carolina Central next Wednesday for that makeup doubleheader beginning at 2 p.m.
