Complete Match ResultsFARMVILLE, Va. – The Norfolk State men's tennis team posted a 6-1 win against Longwood on Tuesday afternoon to extend its win streak to three. This is the first time in school history that the Spartans have defeated the Lancers.
The Spartans (11-6) swept the doubles competition. Sophomore
Dzmitry Zyhmantovich and senior
Peter Ramstromer-Pello defeated Daniel Elston and Edward Becker, 8-5, at the No. 1 spot. Junior
Igor Braga and sophomore
Robin Riethmueller teamed up in the No. 2 position, where they claimed an 8-6 victory over James Fudge and Steed Johnson. In the No. 3 slot, juniors
Daniel Grauel and
Pascal Domnik posted an 8-3 win against Bharani Sankar and Warren Bryan.
NSU went 5-1 in singles play. At the No. 2 position, Domnik upended Becker, 6-2, 6-4. Riethmueller improved to 9-5 on the season after defeating Johnson in the No. 3 spot, 6-2, 6-3. Braga claimed a 7-6(4), 7-5 win against Bryan. Ramstromer-Pello competed at the No. 5 position, where he knocked off Justin Higgs, 2-6, 6-2, 6-0. Ramstromer-Pello is now 11-5 this season in singles competition. Grauel closed things out for the Spartans with a 7-6(5), 6-1 victory over Sankar.
NSU's only loss came at the No. 1 spot. Zyhmantovich fell to Elston, 1-6, 6-0, 4-6.
The Spartans will play their final regular season match on Saturday at Georgetown. The contest is scheduled to start at 2 p.m. at the McDonough Outdoor Tennis Complex in Washington, D.C.
