NORFOLK, Va. - The Norfolk State women's basketball team plays its final home game of the 2015 calendar year on Sunday as the Spartans host the Seahawks of UNCW. Tip-off is at 6 p.m. at Echols Hall. NSU (0-6) is looking for its first win of the year and to end a six-game losing skid, while the Seahawks (2-3) have dropped their last two games.

Scouting NSU: NSU fell to 0-6 on the season with a 67-58 loss at Morgan State on Saturday, Dec. 5 in the MEAC opener for both teams. The Spartans trailed by 12 at the half but outscored MSU 25-6 in the third quarter to take a 48-41 lead into the final period. But the Lady Bears, behind the play of guard Braennan Farrar, outscored NSU 26-10 in the final 10 minutes to pull away for the win. Farrar had 20 of her game-high 33 points in the fourth quarter.

Siobhan Beslow led the Spartans with 14 points and 13 rebounds for her third double-double of the season. Yazmen Hannah added 13 points and Koryn Lawrence 12 for NSU, which shot 35 percent from the floor.

Beslow and Lawrence are tied for the team-lead in scoring at 11.3 points per game. Kayla Roberts chips in with 10.8 points per game and Hannah at 8.7.

Scouting UNCW: The Seahawks out of the Colonial Athletic Association are 2-3 on the year after dropping their last two games, 58-45 at VCU on Dec. 2 and 77-50 to Davidson on Nov. 28. UNCW has just nine players on its active roster and has played only seven each of the last two games. The Seahawks have been led by junior center Jordan Henry, who averages team highs of 12.8 points and 9.8 rebounds per game. Senior guard Shatia Cole averages 10.6 points. UNCW is averaging 53.4 points per game but gives up just 58.0.

UNCW was picked to finish seventh in the 10-team CAA this season. Junior guard Naqaiyyah Teague earned honorable mention preseason All-CAA recognition.

All-Time Series vs. UNCW: UNCW holds a 2-0 series edge over the Spartans. The teams have not met since 2002-03, when the Seahawks took a 73-47 victory from NSU at Echols Hall. The teams' first meeting was the season before, a 77-73 overtime win by UNCW in Wilmington, N.C.
