RICHMOND, Va. – Richmond won the top two singles positions in a third-set tiebreaker on the way to a 7-0 victory over the Norfolk State men's tennis team on Saturday afternoon at the Westhampton Tennis Complex.

The Spiders also won two of the three doubles matches and improved to 9-6 on the year.

Seniors
Daniel Grauel and
Igor Braga picked up the only win of the day for NSU (2-12), knocking off Caleb Troy and Jonathan Quenard by an 8-6 score at the No. 2 doubles position.

Richmond won at No. 1 doubles when James Aronson and Canyon Teague downed seniors
Pascal Domnik and
Shaheed Mourillon-Swift, 8-5. Jacob Dunbar and Stathi Kyriakides swept through senior
Alex Killam and junior
Terey Hackney at the No. 3 spot, 8-0.

Domnik and Braga then got locked into tight battles at the top of the lineup in singles. Domnik defeated Dunbar by a 6-4 score in the first set at No. 1 singles, but Dunbar was able to respond in winning the second set, 6-4, and the third-set tiebreaker, 10-5.

Braga fell in the first set at No. 2 singles against Teague, 6-2. The Spartan senior turned around and won the second set, 6-4, but Teague closed out the win in the third-set tiebreaker, 10-7.

After falling in the first set, 6-2, to Troy at No. 3 singles, Grauel nearly pulled out the win in the second set before dropping it by a 7-5 score. Quenard downed Mourillon-Swift, 6-0 and 6-2, at the fourth singles slot, while Aronson (No. 5) and Kyriakides (No. 6) won via scores of 6-0 and 6-0 against Killam and Hackney, respectively.

NSU will play at North Carolina Central on Tuesday at 1:30 p.m. in a MEAC Southern Division matchup.
