ALTAMONTE SPRINGS, Fla. – Norfolk State earned the doubles point despite defaulting in the third match, but Creighton won four of six singles matches to earn a 4-3 win over the Spartan men's tennis team on Wednesday afternoon at Sanlando Park.
 
The Bluejays rallied to win the second, third and fifth singles positions to pull out the win. Creighton also won No. 6 singles due to NSU's shorthanded lineup in a spring break matchup in Florida.
 
NSU (0-9) did start off well, winning No. 2 doubles by a 6-1 score when sophomores Antonio Pejic and Fatehdeep Singh topped Harrison Lang and August Nysted. At the top spot, freshmen Flavian Fernandez and Benedikt Henning defeated Quinn Dippel and Alex Koca by a 6-4 margin.
 
Pejic and Henning came away with wins in singles as well. Pejic had the easier time, downing Brooks Kendall at the No. 4 spot, 7-5 and 6-3.
 
Henning, meanwhile, won the first set at No. 1 singles over Dippel by a 6-2 score. Dippel returned the favor by taking the second set, 6-3, before Henning won the third-set tiebreaker, 10-7.
 
Creighton (5-4) won the second and third positions to pull even with NSU. Koca handled freshman Dan Dumitrascu, 6-3 and 6-2, at the No. 2 slot. Lang, meanwhile, defeated Fernandez by a 6-1, 6-1 score at the third spot.
 
The Bluejays ultimately came away with the win by taking the No. 5 position, the last match to finish on the afternoon. Jake Glazer pulled out narrow win over Singh, winning the first set 7-6, including 7-5 in the tiebreaker. Glazer also won the second set, 7-5, to close out the match.
 
NSU will play South Dakota State on Friday at noon in the next contest on the Spartans' Florida trip.
