GREENSBORO, N.C. – Norfolk State women's tennis dropped a road contest at North Carolina A&T on Sunday afternoon 7-0, ending the Spartans' North Carolina Road trip.
Zada McMorris and
Breana Cook combined for a 7-5 victory over Nuria Sanz and Cielo Tapia-Cruz at No. 2 doubles, but the Aggies won on Courts 1 and 3 to take the doubles point. Isabela Romanichen and Lana Caculovic defeated
Aleksandra Evdokimova and
Laura Ruiz at the No. 1 spot, and N.C. A&T took No. 3 by default.
North Carolina A&T swept singles play, wining three matches by opponent retirement and two in straight sets.
Evdokimova's seven-match win streak at No. 1 singles came to an end on Sunday, but not without a fight. Caculovic took down the Spartan sophomore 6-7, 6-0, 1-0 in a three-set battle, winning the final tiebreaker 10-5.
Norfolk State returns to NSU Tennis Complex on Sunday, Mar. 26 to face East Carolina at 12 p.m.
