NORFOLK, Va. -- Fresh off a season-opening victory, the Norfolk State women's basketball team will look to move to 2-0 on the season on Thursday evening at Echols Hall.
 
The Spartans take on Longwood at 7 p.m. on Thursday, Nov. 7 for Throwback Night. Norfolk State picked up a dominant 70-49 win over William & Mary on Monday, putting together a strong defensive performance.
 
Norfolk State leads the all-time series with Longwood 12-5. The Spartans defeated the Lancers 76-59 during the 2023-24 campaign behind a 30-point, 16-rebound double-double performance from senior Kierra Wheeler.
 
Thursday's game will air live on WNSB 91.1 FM, featuring Ross Gordon and Woube Gebre on the call.
 
LAST TIME OUT
  • Norfolk State opened the 2024-25 season with a 70-49 victory over William & Mary on Monday evening
  • Anjanae Richardson led the Spartans with a career night, finishing the game with 21 points on 7-of-13 shooting that included five made 3-pointers.

SCOUTING THE LANCERS
  • The Lancers began the season with an 81-70 win on Monday against Lincoln (Pa.)
  • Senior guard Malea Brown led Longwood with 21 points, four rebounds, and two assists.
  • Kiki McIntyre (13), Frances Ulysse (12), and Mariah Wilson (11) all scored double figures in the win
  • Head coach Erika Lang-Montgomery enters her 3rd season with the Lancers. She is currently 18-42 at Longwood and has 13 years of head coaching experience (129-200)
  • Longwood finished last season 9-21 overall with a 6-10 record in the Big South Conference.
