CLINTON, S.C. - The Norfolk State University softball team fell to Presbyterian, 9-1, and Tennessee Tech, 8-0, on the final day of the Pinnacle Blue Hose Invitational on Saturday, Feb. 10.
Against Presbyterian, the Spartans used the top of the fourth inning to get within one run of the Blue Hose who had a two run lead.
Singles from Loren Hudson and Lauren Sheehan put a runner in scoring position as Kailey Bryant doubled to bring home Kira Turner, who pinch ran for Hudson, as the Spartans trailed 2-1.
After seven unanswered runs by the Blue Hose, the Spartans fell, 9-1.
Against Tennessee Tech, the Spartans were shutout after a eight-run, 13-hit outing by the Eagles.
Freshman Kachelle Refour finished the series with a hit in both games. She, along with junior catcher/outfielder Rylie Gilbreath, currently lead the team in hits with four each.
Coming up - The Spartans will play their home openers against Wagner and Bryant in the Hampton Invitational on Feb. 16-17 at the NSU Softball Field.
