PHILADELPHIA, Pa. – The Norfolk State women's tennis team couldn't overcome a strong temple squad on Friday, falling 4-1 at Hecht Tennis Center.
Gabriela Davidescu earned the Spartans' lone point of the day, taking down Temple's Maiko Uchijima 6-4, 6-1 at the No. 1 singles position.
Temple won the opening doubles point with quick victories on Courts 2 and 3, taking a 1-0 advantage.
The Owls went ahead 2-0 when Samantha Nanere defeated
Alessia Stan 6-1, 6-1 at the No. 2 position, before Davidescu got the Spartans on the board with a win on Court 1.
Sena Takebe bested
Irina Iurea 6-4, 6-0 at the No. 3 position, before Evie Wei closed out the match with a 6-0, 6-0 win over
Isabella Cottrell at the No. 6 slot.
