NORFOLK, Va. – The Norfolk State men's and women's tennis teams host cross-bay rival Hampton in the annual Battle of the Bay on Wednesday, Feb. 18. First serve is set for 10 a.m.
The Spartan men enter Wednesday's matchup after a narrow 4-3 loss to Old Dominion on Jan. 30. Norfolk State claimed victories in the top two singles flights, highlighted by
Patryk Kowal's hard-fought three-set win at No. 1 singles over ODU sophomore Jean-Karim Olivier de Sardan, 7-6, 4-6, 10-8.
Marcin Andrzejczak added another point at No. 2 singles, defeating freshman Zech Hamrouni in straight sets, 6-1, 6-4.
The Spartan women last competed on Jan. 31, falling 7-0 at William & Mary. The No. 1 doubles pairing of
Ines Sabadie and
Yuliya Yurkova provided the highlight for NSU, earning a 6-3 victory over Francesca Davis and Tilda Larsson.
UP NEXT
The men return to action Friday, Feb. 27, traveling to New Orleans to face Xavier (La.). The women head back on the road Friday, Feb. 20, for a matchup against East Carolina.
