NORFOLK, Va. – The Norfolk State women's tennis team continues its season Friday, Feb. 20, traveling to Greenville, N.C., to face East Carolina.
The Spartans enter the matchup following a narrow 4-3 victory over cross-bay rival Hampton in the Battle of the Bay on Feb. 18. Norfolk State secured the doubles point with wins at the No. 1 and No. 2 flights before clinching the match with singles victories at No. 1, No. 2 and No. 5.
East Carolina also comes in with momentum after earning a 4-3 season-opening win at VCU on Feb. 14. Kim Auerswald led the Pirates with victories in both doubles (6-2) and singles at No. 2 (6-1, 6-4).
SERIES HISTORY
The programs have met three times, with East Carolina winning each contest. In last season's meeting, Norfolk State captured two team points before ECU secured a 5-2 victory.
