Played in all 12 games and started nine times under center as a true freshman … led NSU quarterbacks with 102 completions, 180 passing attempts, 1,310 passing yards and eight passing TDs … ranked seventh in the MEAC in passing yards and total offense … also rushed for 180 net yards and one score on the season for 1,490 net offensive yards (124.2 ypg) … gained 431 rushing yards but lost 251 … saw his first career action in the fourth quarter of the opener at Maine, completing 2-of-4 passes for 5 yards … got his first career start the following week against Liberty, running for 27 yards and completing 10-of-16 passes for 56 yards … threw for 176 yards on 16-of-24 passing in the loss at William & Mary … threw his first career TD pass, a 68-yarder to Isaac White, in the loss at FBS Buffalo … ran for a season-high 48 yards and passed for 63 in the win over Morgan State … played sparingly in the games with Savannah State and Delaware State … returned to the starting lineup against Hampton, where he threw for season highs of 335 yards and three scores in the Spartans’ win … earned MEAC Co-Rookie of the Week and Battle of the Bay MVP honors for his performance against Hampton, where he also completed 22 of his 31 passes … passed for 502 yards in his final two games of the season … threw for 235 yards and one TD and also scored his first collegiate rushing TD in the loss to N.C. Central … ended the year by completing 22-of-37 throws for 267 yards and two scores at South Carolina State.

Bird to its first two VHSL state titles as a junior and senior … Conference 12 and Region 5A South Offensive Player of the Year as a senior, when he threw for 2,065 yards and 27 TDs – both school records … second-team All-State 5A by VirginiaPreps.com … passed for 266 yards and two TDs and also ran for a score to help L.C. Bird clinch its second straight state title in his final prep game, earning Player of the Game honors … first-team all-conference and all-region … also earned honorable mention All-Metro honors … was 29-0 as a starter … set school records with 3,666 passing yards and 50 TDs over his two years on varsity … attended Henrico High his first two years.
