Andre Kendrick enters his second season at Norfolk State in 2026-27 as running backs coach, reuniting with head coach Michael Vick, his former Virginia Tech teammate.
Kendrick and Vick were teammates on Virginia Tech's 1999 team that played for the national championship. A standout running back for the Hokies, Kendrick was a high school All-American whose game translated seamlessly to the college level — he led the Big East with 6.3 yards per carry during Virginia Tech's 11-1 campaign in 1999.
Before joining Norfolk State, Kendrick worked as a high school football coaching consultant, providing guidance to student-athletes at his alma mater, E.C. Glass High School, with an emphasis on strength and conditioning. He also served as director of the MV7 experience alongside Vick and founded Central Virginia Elite, an advanced youth football program.
A native of Lynchburg, Va., Kendrick starred at E.C. Glass High School before his career at Virginia Tech. His son, DreSean, transferred from William & Mary to play wide receiver at Norfolk State, joining his father on Vick's staff.
