Jeremy Blunt joins Norfolk State's coaching staff under head coach Michael Vick, bringing one of the most decorated head coaching résumés in Virginia high school football history, headlined by four straight state championships at his alma mater, Phoebus High School.

Coaching Career

Blunt spent 14 seasons as head coach at Phoebus High School in Hampton, Va., taking over his alma mater's program midway through the 2012 season. Over his tenure, he compiled a 156-23 record with four state championships and one state runner-up finish. From 2021 through 2024, Phoebus won four consecutive state titles across Classes 3 and 4, defeating Liberty Christian (2021), Heritage (2022), Salem (2023), and Varina (2024), while also capturing eight straight Peninsula District titles. During that run, the Phantoms put together a 51-game winning streak — the second-longest in Virginia High School League history — before it was snapped by Warwick during the 2024 season. Blunt resigned from Phoebus in January 2026 to pursue other coaching opportunities.

In March 2026, Blunt was named the first head football coach at Nova Lakes High School, a newly established campus in St. Cloud, Florida, set to open that August. He left the position in July 2026 to accept an assistant coaching role at Norfolk State under head coach Michael Vick.

Playing Career

A Hampton, Va. native, Blunt played defensive back at Christopher Newport University after a standout career at Phoebus High School, where he served as a team captain on the 2001 squad that won the school's first state football championship.
