Joy Colden-Hepbourn

Joy Colden-Hepbourn returned to Norfolk State Athletics in November 2025 and currently serves as Executive Assistant, supporting executive operations through financial administration, travel coordination, and organizational management.

In her role, Colden-Hepbourn manages office budgets and financial transactions, including invoices, purchase requisitions, reimbursements, and vendor payments, while coordinating travel, meetings, and special events. She prepares agendas and key documents while maintaining efficient and secure filing systems to support daily operations.

Prior to her current position, Colden-Hepbourn served as the Director of Administrative Operations for Norfolk State Athletics, where she oversaw day-to-day administrative functions and provided executive-level support to the Director of Athletics and senior leadership. She managed scheduling, coordinated leadership meetings, assisted with strategic initiatives, and served as a liaison to the Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference (MEAC), NCAA, and other external partners. She also played a key role in game day operations and departmental events, contributing to a positive experience for student-athletes, staff, and fans.

Colden-Hepbourn brings a diverse professional background that includes experience in legal administration, client relations, and business operations, including time as a legal assistant and as the owner and operator of her own business. Her strong organizational skills and attention to detail have been instrumental throughout her career.

A proud 2008 graduate of Norfolk State University, Colden-Hepbourn earned her Bachelor of Science degree in Mass Communications, graduating magna cum laude, and also completed The Media Sales Institute at Florida A&M University. She is currently pursuing her Master’s degree in Higher Education with a concentration in Leadership at Old Dominion University.

Colden-Hepbourn is married and the proud mother of two sons, Breon and Cayden, and remains deeply connected to the Norfolk State community.
