Scorpio Brown joins the Norfolk State football coaching staff in 2026, bringing a football career that spans standout college and professional playing days along with more than a decade of coaching experience.
A Newport News, Va. native and Warwick High School graduate, Brown was an All-State tight end who earned a full scholarship to Hampton University, where he played linebacker for two seasons. He then transferred to Morehouse College, where he became a two-way player at linebacker and tight end for the Maroon Tigers, finishing his career with 115 tackles, four interceptions, and seven sacks on defense, along with 14 catches for 104 yards and two touchdowns on offense. He majored in kinesiology at Morehouse.
After college, Brown continued his football career for nine seasons in professional arena football, suiting up for the Daytona Beach Thunderbirds, Baltimore Mariners, Richmond Revolution, Philadelphia Soul, Harrisburg Stampede, and San Jose SaberCats. Over that span, he compiled 204 catches for 4,043 yards and 128 touchdowns.
While still playing professionally, Brown began his coaching career at his alma mater, Warwick High School, launching a coaching path that has spanned both sides of the ball, including time as pass game coordinator and receivers coach at The Apprentice School.
