DURHAM, N.C. - After an unexpected break due to winter weather in the Hampton Roads area, the Norfolk State men's basketball team will get back to action on Monday when the Spartans travel to North Carolina Central. Tip-off from NCCU's McDougald-McLendon Arena is set for 7:30 p.m.
NSU was set to play at North Carolina A&T on Saturday before weather conditions forced a postponement until Jan. 17.

Series History
North Carolina Central won both of last year's meetings, including in the regular season at NSU and then in the MEAC Championship game, 67-59. The Spartans still lead the all-time series, 29-13, thanks in part to 16 straight wins to begin the series from 1963-87. The Eagles own a 6-3 record against the Spartans since beginning their transition into the MEAC in 2010-11.
Scouting North Carolina Central
The Eagles won at Delaware State on Wednesday by three points in their MEAC opener, pushing their overall record to 7-8 as well. Raasean Davis leads the way with 15.2 points and 7.8 rebounds, shooting 68 percent from the floor. Reginald Gardner Jr. has made 35 3-pointers and is second on the team in scoring at 11.6. Pablo Rivas (10.5 points, 6.5 rebounds) rounds out the double-digit scorers for a team that shoots 49 percent overall and 37 percent from 3-point range. The Eagles average 74.4 points per game and are +5.1 on the boards. That makes up for the fact they lose the turnover margin by an average of 2.1 giveaways per contest while allowing teams to make eight 3-pointers each time out. Jordan Perkins (7.6 points, 4.3 assists) is another name to look out for.
Last Time Out
Mastadi Pitt led NSU with 17 points, and five players scored between eight and 10 points in the Spartans' 75-67 win over Coppin State on Wednesday at Joseph Echols Hall. The MEAC opener for both teams, Norfolk State won its 10th in a row over the Eagles while never trailing in the entire game. The Spartans did commit 18 turnovers but held a 47-28 edge on the glass. The Eagles trailed by 10 early in the second half but were able to come all the way back and tie the score at 41-41. The Spartans held on and then pushed the advantage back up to 11 on the way to the victory. NSU made 10-of-24 from 3-point range and held the Eagles to 37.5 percent shooting, including 10-of-35 from beyond the arc. The Spartans also held a 13-5 advantage in second-chance points.

Spartan Team Tidbits
• Over the past three games, opponents have shot 34.3 percent overall and 27.9 percent from 3-point range. It marked the first times this season against D-I opponents NSU allowed less than 40 percent overall shooting and less than 35 percent 3-point shooting.
• On the flip side, Norfolk State is shooting 45.4 percent from the floor and 39.0 percent from 3-point land over the last six games, including its three highest overall shooting totals of the season during that time. The Spartans made a season-best 50 percent at Stony Brook.
