HAMPTON, Va. – The Norfolk State volleyball team visits Hampton this evening for the second "Battle of the Bay" matchup of the season. First serve is set for 6 p.m.
Norfolk State swept Hampton in three sets earlier this season at Gill Gymnasium (25-21, 25-16, 25-20).

The Spartans enter tonight's match with a 2-22 overall record and a 1-10 mark in the MEAC, following a pair of five-set losses to Maryland Eastern Shore and Delaware State.
Junior outside hitter
Gabrielle Gilbert leads NSU with 322 kills and a .203 hitting percentage. Sophomore setter
Jasmine Mataira has recorded 256 assists. At the service line, Gilbert (31),
Briana Ellis (24),
Mya Wood (20), and
Mary Nahinu (17) have provided consistent production.
On defense, Nahinu leads the team with 223 digs, followed by Wood with 189.
Ava Berry paces the Spartans at the net with 69 blocks, while
Reagan Chisholm (50) and Gilbert (40) add support.
Record Watch
Gilbert recently became the third player in program history to reach 1,000 career kills. She passed Jessica Johnson (2012-14, '16), who totaled 1,002, for second place on NSU's all-time list. Gilbert now has 1,027 career kills, trailing record-holder Charlotte Armstead (2009-12), who finished with 1,177.
Gilbert also moved into second place on the career attacks list with 2,740, surpassing Charlotte Armstead (2,712).

Hampton enters tonight's contest at 1-23 overall and 0-14 in the CAA, following two losses to Northeastern.
Racquel Frazier leads the Pirates with 193 kills, while setter Morgan Warren has dished out 380 assists. Katerina Pappa leads the team in aces with 20, followed by Lillian Campbell with 15.
Defensively, Maria Clara Andrade tops the team with 128 digs, with Pappa close behind at 122. Campbell leads Hampton at the net with 43 blocks, while Kylah McNeal has added 30.
