NORFOLK, Va. – The Norfolk State men's basketball team came up just short in a back-and-forth battle on Saturday evening, falling 81-78 to William & Mary at Echols Hall.

Anthony McComb III paced the Spartans with 19 points, shooting 6-of-13 from the field and 4-of-8 from three-point range. Elijah Jamison and My'kel Jenkins added 15 points apiece, combining for 12 rebounds and eight assists.
How It Happened
Norfolk State opened the game strong, building a four-point lead early before William & Mary rallied to take a 22-20 advantage midway through the first half. The Spartans regained control behind key baskets from Keyontae Lewis and Dian Wright-Forde, taking a 26-22 lead. The teams traded blows the rest of the way, with NSU clinging to a 37-36 edge at halftime.
The Spartans came out of the break firing, using an 11-point surge to go ahead 67-56 with just over seven minutes remaining. But the Tribe responded with an 18-7 run to retake the lead, 75-74, at the 3:15 mark. The closing minutes featured multiple lead changes, before William & Mary held on for the narrow 81-78 victory.
