Biography

2011 (Sophomore): Posted a 3-3 record with a 4.78 ERA and a team-leading 81 strikeouts in 69.2 innings pitched … ranked second in the MEAC in total strikeouts, third in opponents’ batting average (.252) and fifth in saves (two) … led the conference and ranked 22nd nationally with 10. 5 strikeouts per nine innings … earned his first win of the year in the second game of a doubleheader at Savannah State, striking out eight and allowing just one run in five innings (2-26-11) … named MEAC Pitcher of the Week following a brilliant relief outing in the win against Penn State (3-13-11) … pitched three hitless innings and fanned four to earn the save against the Nittany Lions, giving NSU its first win over a Big 10 team since 1996 … struck out eight UMES hitters over six innings of a no-decision (4-10-11) … allowed just five hits and one run in that outing … fanned a career-high 12 hitters and pitched a career-high 8.2 innings to earn the win against Savannah State in the first game of a doubleheader (4-30-11) … gave up just five hits in that contest … also earned the victory the following weekend at Florida A&M with five strikeouts in five innings of work (5-7-11) … collected his second save of the season in the MEAC Tournament game with North Carolina A&T (5-18-11) … allowed just one hit and one walk in four scoreless innings of relief while striking out four versus the Aggies … got the start in the MEAC Tournament championship game with Bethune-Cookman … took the loss, but struck out six in 5.1 innings of work … following the college season, was selected to pitch for the Edenton Steamers in the Coastal Plain League, one of the nation’s top summer wooden-bat collegiate leagues … went 4-1 with a 1.95 ERA for the Steamers, who finished 44-11 and lost in the Pettit Cup championship series … named to the CPL All-Star Game, where he earned the win with a scoreless inning of relief.

2010 (Freshman): Appeared in 17 games as a freshman and logged eight starts … finished the season 1-2 with an 8.34 ERA … struck out 36 batters in 41 innings … picked up his first career pitching victory in his second start (at Savannah State, 2-28-10) … pitched five innings, allowed five hits and three runs (two earned) while striking out a season-high six hitters … did not walk a batter in that outing … struck out five batters in 2.1 innings of relief work in the team’s win over ODU (3-23-10) … allowed just one earned run over four innings in a no-decision start against N.C. A&T (3-27-10) … collected his first career save against Savannah State (5-1-10), pitching the final two-thirds of an inning and fanning one of the hitters he faced … allowed three earned runs in five innings during his final start and appearance of the season vs. Longwood (5-16-10) …  was a standout relief pitcher for the Elmira Pioneers of the New York Collegiate Baseball League (NYCBL) during the summer of 2010 … between the regular season and playoffs, Egan made 14 appearances out of the bullpen, posting a 1-0 record with a 1.56 ERA and one save for Elmira … struck out 17 batters in 17.1 innings pitched and helped the Pioneers advance to the NYBCL championship series.

High School: Golfed and played baseball all four years at First Colonial … went 2-2 with a 1.59 ERA for FC as a senior … struck out 33 hitters in 22 innings pitched … pitched one no-hitter … also hit .316 with three home runs and 16 RBI as a senior, helping the Patriots reach the Eastern Region semifinals.

Personal: Jordan Thomas Egan was born on Aug. 3, 1991 … son of Christopher and Lorilynn Egan … majoring in sociology with a minor in criminal justice.
