Match Results

HARRISONBURG, Va.
– Junior Arsenio Culver won in both singles and doubles for the second match in a row as the Norfolk State men's tennis team fell to James Madison, 6-1, Friday afternoon at the Convocation Center Courts.

Culver easily dispatched Greg Vladimirsky, 6-2, 6-1, at No. 1 singles, and then teamed with junior Ben Marks for an 8-5 victory at No. 1 doubles over Matt King and Bertrand Moulin. James Madison improved to 7-5 with the win, while NSU fell to 2-10.

Culver has now won four of his last five singles matches and his last three doubles matches.

Marks nearly joined Culver in the win column after battling Moulin at No. 2 singles. Moulin earned a 6-3 first-set win before Marks won the second set, 6-4. Moulin earned a 10-6 third-set tiebreaker for the match victory.

Junior Christian Romanzini fell to Florent Sentenac, 6-1, 6-0, at the third singles slot, while freshman Kent Austin dropped a 6-1, 6-3 decision to Ryan Pool at No. 4 singles. Junior Jonathan Sessom lost at No. 5 singles to Tommi Nissinen, 6-2, 6-1, while freshman Brian Bullock came up short against Jovan Milic at the sixth slot, 6-2, 6-2.

Austin and Romanzini gave Sentenac and Yaroslav Voznenko all they could handle at No. 3 doubles before falling to the JMU duo, 8-5. Sessom and Bullock were not as successful at No. 2 doubles, dropping an 8-1 decision to Vladimirsky and Pool.

NSU will next head to Christopher Newport Saturday for a 2 p.m. match in Newport News, Va.
