NORFOLK, Va. --- The Norfolk State volleyball team continues Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference play this weekend, hosting South Carolina State on Friday, Nov. 7 at 6 p.m., before taking on North Carolina Central on Saturday, Nov. 9 at 1 p.m.
 
Norfolk State Outlook
The Spartans enter the weekend at 3-22 overall and 1-10 in the MEAC, coming off a 3-1 victory over Hampton in the "Battle of the Bay."
 
Junior outside hitter Gabrielle Gilbert leads Norfolk State with 348 kills and a .208 hitting percentage. Sophomore setter Jasmine Mataira has totaled 301 assists. At the service line, Gilbert (33), Briana Ellis (26), Mary Nahinu (22) and Mya Wood (20) have provided steady production.
 
Nahinu leads the Spartan defense with 244 digs, followed by Wood with 203. Ava Berry anchors the front line with 73 blocks, while Reagan Chisholm adds 53 and Gilbert contributes 42.
 
South Carolina State Outlook
South Carolina State enters Friday's match at 5-19 overall and 1-9 in the MEAC. The Bulldogs dropped conference matches to Coppin State and Morgan State last weekend, both in three sets.
 
Graduate outside hitter Kiyah Felder leads SCSU with 223 kills. Graduate middle blocker Hailey Harris ranks second with 113 kills. Setter Arianna James paces the offense with 336 assists, and Macey McCoy adds 151. Harris leads the team from the service line with 26 aces, followed by Miya Benson (21) and Robyn White (19).
 
Benson leads the Bulldogs' defense with 242 digs, while James follows with 134. McKinley Roach leads the blocking front with 44 blocks, and Harris adds 43.
 
North Carolina Central Outlook
North Carolina Central enters the weekend at 9-15 overall and 6-5 in MEAC play, earning wins over Morgan State (3-2) and Coppin State (3-1) last weekend.
 
Senior outside hitter Kamren Harper leads the Eagles with 331 kills. Leanna Beaty and Makenzi Searcy follow with 133 kills each. Setter Manuela Cripa Nasser directs the offense with 795 assists. Loren Johnson leads the team in service aces with 34, followed by Cripa Nasser (19) and Harper (18).
 
Johnson also leads the Eagles defensively with 326 digs. Harper (195), Neira Joldic (194) and Cripa Nasser (124) add support. At the net, Allyson Rouse leads with 50 blocks, while Jenelle Mason follows with 36.
